For this opening
game cinematic, Microsoft wanted
unprecedented sophistication and complexity.
Meni was both
the live action director and CG co-director (with Karl Denham).
The live action
was shot on 35mm film at 30 frames per second.
As the shot
designer, Meni created all the animatics for not only the CG
battle scenes, but also for all the live action. This sped
up the shooting schedule, which was completed in two days.
Digital pyrotechnics
were used extensively in the action scenes.
